This episode is one I’ve been waiting for all year! My friend, author and Catholic Weekend host María Morera Johnson, joins me for the Among Women interview. Maria brings some of the stories behind her new book, including how the book got its name: My Badass Book of Saints: Courage Women Who Showed Me How to Live. This is one book that I hope many women will read, and a book I especially hope you’ll put in the hands of someone who may never pick up a book of saints otherwise.
In this conversation, my writing buddy and good friend gives us the background on how a word like “badass” got into the book’s title, and her own powerful lessons of how God has helped her — and a variety of saints and impressive women — persevere under trials and hardships! Not only that, Maria talks about her recent pilgrimage to Cuba and her personal meeting with Pope Francis and other church leaders!

There is plenty of media out there for us to watch and listen to but few that are as uplifting and faith filled as your podcasts. I find your segments on the saints very informative and I find myself asking for intercessions from so many saints that I came to know from your podcasts. In addition, your message about our feminine genius is so very much needed in this day and time. I find listening to your podcasts is a little oasis in the bombardment of negativity I find in many other media sources. Your podcasts are enlightening, educational, and spiritually uplifting and I so appreciate all your efforts as well as all your guests. And I look forward to the next 200 episodes!

I love your podcasts and am so glad you are posting them more consistently. It feels like a little community with all women, whether busy moms, empty nesters or single. The music is relaxing and topics always pertinent. I like to hear about the saints, good books and dealing with real life. So far I’ve heard up to #197. Congrats on #200 milestone.
Thanks for the encouragement and for giving me the feedback on my new upload schedule. My life’s schedule is so very different from when I started back in 2009, but I’m happy that listeners are happy about our 10-20-30 schedule. (For those of you who don’t know, since September I’ve been trying to release AW on the 10th, 20th, and the 30th of each month. In the last year I had to juggle many priorities, and AW sometimes has unschedule hiatuses. This new schedule is working for me, and my guests, and I hope for all of you! =] )
