Welcome to Episode 8 of Among Women “Espresso Shot”
– a short strong coffee break of faith sharing and teaching from Pat Gohn.
Today’s topic: Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet
It this podcast, the first ten minutes are dedicated to praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet in its entirety. The last five minutes are devoted to the history behind the Chaplet. This prayer comes to us from St Faustina Kowalska of Poland, and was a special devotion of St John Paul II, who included Mercy Sunday in the Church calendar.
It’s the Year of Mercy, and we are approaching the Holy Triduum, wherein we are encouraged to begin praying the Novena to Divine Mercy. The Novena begins on Good Friday and continues for 9 days until it concludes on the Feast of Divine Mercy (the first Sunday after Easter).
Yet you can pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy on ordinary rosary beads ANYTIME outside of the Novena days as well! It’s particularly powerful to pray it after receiving Holy Communion, at adoration, or each day during the “hour of mercy” — 3pm — when Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
You might wish to bookmark this podcast for future use — to pray along with me anytime you need a prayer buddy! (Or someone to count the beads for you!)
